 A NEW WORKSHOP!!!

When Hands Speak Eyes Listen  - a poetry workshop for the Deaf and the Blind

Poet/Author Nathan Richardson accompanied by Sign Language Specialist Terri Copeland will amaze and inspire your students to use poetry and other forms of creative writing as a way to overcome the challenges of communicating as a deaf or blind person.  Ms Copeland uses American Sign Language (ASL) to interpret Mr. Richardson's poetry which is celebrated worldwide for its vivid imagery and themes that highlight the diversity of humanity.

This workshop consists of a 15 minute performance segment by the instructors and a 45 minute student participation segment, where the class is encouraged to write and interpret through sign language, their own original poems and short prose.  Blind and deaf students are also encouraged to speak/recite their poems when possible, to build vocal expression skills.
